This short introduction explains what the Isovalent Load Balancer is and where it fits. It covers eBPF-powered load balancing for Layer 4 and Layer 7 traffic across physical servers, virtual machines, and Kubernetes environments. The Isovalent Load Balancer is a brand new product coming to market later this year. It's a standalone network load balancer at Layer 4 and Layer 7 based on Cilium and eBPF. It's blazing fast and aligned with the future of Kubernetes, but it can balance any traffic you want. You can load balance to physical servers, virtual machines, or of course Kubernetes workloads as well. It uses Kubernetes internally as its control plane, but it doesn't require you to actually run Kubernetes yourself. So it's a good fit if you want modern load balancing for Kubernetes while still supporting the legacy world of load balancing to existing network endpoints.
