Raphaël Pinson, Sr Solutions Architect at Isovalent, sat down with Tobias Brunner, CTO of VSHN, to discuss how VSHN uses Isovalent's metrics and monitoring tools to maintain clear visibility into their network policy posture. Yes, we collect all the metrics. All the metrics, of course. So what, thousands of metrics? Are you using Cilium and Hubble metrics? What do you do with that? Is there something interesting that you do with these metrics? Yeah. On one hand, we have our own cluster metrics collection, and there we actually collect all the metrics. That's true, of course. But for audit reasons, we also export network metrics or security metrics into an external system. There we only export selected metrics, not all, because that would be too much. We can also store them for years if the customer wants to. I see. And with those exported metrics, we have Grafana dashboards where we can see what's going on. The customer can see what's going on as well. We expose all our metrics to the customers. Plus, we have alert rules which alert on several things that happen on the cluster, and a network engineer or a communities engineer can have a look at what's going on.
