This is the time of the year when the weather becomes a little bit colder, however, our company starts feeling warmer. Because for us it is not just the end of the calendar year. Rather, it is a moment to look around and recognize the community we have built. A community which stretches across continents, cultures, and languages but comes together because we share the same belief: people matter, and when people feel they belong everything else is possible too. What we celebrate in December is belonging - the type that makes people feel seen, included, and honoured for who they are. That is indeed the heart of our culture. Celebrating in All Cultures At Isovalent we are spread across more than 28 countries so one of the things that we treasure the most is our diversity. We believe in making room for everyone. That is why when it comes to decorating our Swiss headquarters, we don’t just follow local traditions alone. We make a conscious effort to create an inclusive space that reflects all cultures and traditions. Our holiday decorations represent a blend of cultures: from a dressed up Christmas tree topped with a star, deep red leaves of the poinsettia and tangerines to Chinese poems, Eastern elements and traditional sweets and cookies from across the world. So our office becomes a place in which everyone can feel at home, can recognize themselves and feel welcomed. Dinners That Bring Us Closer, Across the Globe Historically, in our early days we only had enough local presence to organize small end of year dinners in the Bay Area and in Switzerland. But as our team expanded, so did our holiday gatherings. Now, Isonauts get together all around the world - Japan, the UK, Australia, India, Switzerland, the Bay Area, and so on - to share meals, stories and to celebrate with each other. Holiday Package That Reflect Our Values Each year we are sending a special holiday package to every Isonaut which is thoughtful, practical, beautifully designed, and made with sustainable materials. In every choice, we hope to echo our culture, so every piece of it is chosen with care and lots of love. We also honor the individual choice of opting out as people should feel comfortable, respected, and included - but not pressured. Our hearts warm up when we see the photos and videos of Isonauts’ unpacking experience: children helping parents take out the presents, pets exploring the boxes…. And it’s these moments that become our shared memories. Our December Holiday Countdown Calendar: Days of Celebrating Milestones & Cheering Memories Our Holiday countdown calendar, from December 1st to the beginning of our quiet period recounts the moments that made our year meaningful. Every day brings something new: A team highlight we are proud of, A milestone that changed us, A memory that still makes us smile and this year they are in the format of the emoji riddles which really capture our spirit best of all. We share more than just work tasks and deadlines, we share a culture built on connection, humor, and authenticity. A Secret Santa That Brings Us Closer Being a distributed and fully remote company makes you rethink the traditions and search for new formats. Secret Santa is no exception. In our company instead of giving physical presents, each person makes a digital slide that contains a playful mystery describing another person - their hobbies, their most amusing moments, what they do and contribute to. It becomes a fun game for the whole team - people laughing, guessing, seeing themselves through the eyes of others. This is a tradition we have maintained for four years. It is for just this reason: it brings us closer. The Send-Off: The Heart of Our Year-End Celebration Every December, just before the quiet period, we hold our Send-Off event — the moment where everything comes together. Even though it happens on a screen, it never feels distant. We celebrate new Isonauts who joined us this year, revisit the small and big wins, joke about the things only we understand, share stories, personal joys and milestones, and the small but unforgettable memories that shaped our everyday life as Isonauts. We make sure everyone is represented in some way — a photo, a quote, a moment, a memory — because no Send-Off feels complete unless it feels like everyone is truly part of it, after all we did it all together! The Expected Unexpected Surprise This year, we had something incredibly special as part of our event. A group of Isonauts prepared a Musical Surprise and produced a traditional holiday songs mashup (without using any AI!). Our musicians and singers recorded their parts from home - guitars, drums, keyboard, clarinet, flute, percussions and more. All these recordings have been produced together into a joyful mashup, accompanied by a video showing photos of our year together, dinners, meetups, and funny moments. It was not just a performance. It was a love letter to our whole community created by the community. This is our culture. Quiet Period: The Time to Reset And now it is time for our Quiet Period - a two-week break that encourages us to rest, spend time with our families and disconnect. No scheduled meetings. No usual Slack notifications. No pressure. Those who want to take time off, do so without guilt. Those who want to work quietly on personal goals or specific projects can do that too. Rest is a part of our culture. Recharge is a part of our success. Disconnecting is something that we believe every person deserves. Special Thanks to All Our Isonauts When you step back and look at the whole picture: the all-inclusive decorations, the global meals, the thoughtful holiday packages, the holiday countdown calendar, and the Send-Off event - all these are not just traditions. This is who we are at the end of this year. And this is the culture that we carry into the next year as well. We want to send a special thank you to all our Isonauts - old timers and new joiners, near, far, online or in the office, adventurous, curious, kind… for making this company what it is! All our differences make us better and we are stronger together! We celebrate the end of the year by celebrating each other! We wish you a Happy Holiday Season!
