When we first built the Isovalent labs platform, they were just that: labs. A collection of hands-on exercises to learn Cilium, Tetragon, and eBPF at your own pace. Then we added a map to navigate them, a live view to see what other people were working on, and a leaderboard, because everything is better with a leaderboard. That's how the eBee Quest was born. Not as a grand plan, but as a natural evolution: give people a path, let them choose their own adventure, and make it a little competitive. A Quick Look Back We ran the first in-person eBee Quest last year in Hamburg, ahead of Container Days. An evening of food, drinks, and labs. People picking their path through the cloud-native islands, racing up the leaderboard, and earning badges along the way. We did it again at KubeCon NA in Atlanta, and the energy was just as good. But one evening is only so long. You get started, you find your rhythm, and then the event is over. So during the holidays, we tried something different: a virtual eBee Quest that ran for over a month. No venue, no time limit. Just you, the labs, and the leaderboard. Three people completed every single lab. All 40+ of them! Each time, we learned something. The in-person events bring an energy you can't replicate online. The virtual format gives people the time to go deep. So for KubeCon Amsterdam, we're combining both. The eBee Quest at KubeCon Amsterdam On the evening of March 23, the first day of KubeCon, we're hosting an eBee Quest at the nhow Amsterdam RAI, 23rd floor. We kick off at 18:15, right after the co-located events end. The format is the one we've refined over the past year: you show up, you pick your eBee path (whether that's networking, security, observability, or something else) and you work through the labs at your own pace. Our experts will be on hand if you need guidance, and there will be food and drinks to keep you going. The leaderboard will be live, and there will be prizes for the top participants. Bring your laptop and your curiosity for Cloud Native Networking and Security. That's all you need. But the Quest Doesn't End There Here's what makes this one different. When the evening wraps up, the quest keeps going. If you visit our booth during KubeCon, the labs you do there count toward the same leaderboard. And after the conference, the quest will continue as a virtual eBee Quest until the 17th of April! Start at the evening event, keep going at the booth, finish from your couch at home. Or jump in at any point along the way! It's one quest, and wherever you join, we'll make sure you know how to keep going. The top participants at the end of the quest on April 17 will receive special prizes: signed copies of the Cilium Up and Running book, Cilium t-shirts, and Gradution eBee lego sets!
