A common request from customers that we received was to provide IPAM modes that go beyond the standard of Kubernetes. So, we’ve built IPAM pools which allow a pod to select an IP address from a particular pool. Traditionally, there’s one big network inside Kubernetes, and all pods use IPs from the same block. However, in an enterprise environment, there’s often a requirement for a pod to have specific IPs from a smaller block. This is because only a certain set of IP blocks can access other services, for example.
So, we’ve built IPAM pools which enable the application developer or the platform team to assign Kubernetes pods and deployments to particular IP blocks.
