Open source is at the core of everything we do at Isovalent
Open source is at the core of everything we do at Isovalent. We think, innovate, and breathe open source and are fully committed to its principles and values. We are also building a highly successful business by delivering a great product, outstanding customer experience, and providing an amazing work environment to all of our employees. These are not mutually exclusive.
Dan and Thomas, our co-founders, have been contributors since the early days of open source and have been involved in very large open source projects and communities.
Before founding Isovalent, we first developed Cilium as an open source project. Starting with the first line of code written, Cilium has been an open source project and developed in the open.
We strongly believe that open source principles lead to the highest quality software, an incredible pace of innovation, and long-term sustainability of software technology for everyone. As the community grew and Cilium found its way into many enterprise environments, we have founded Isovalent to help making enterprises successful with Cilium.
Cilium is used in large, global organizations including Adobe, AWS, Capital One, Datadog, GitLab, Google, and many more. These initial open source roots are deeply embedded into the culture of Isovalent and are driving innovation and culture to this day.
Building infrastructure software without open source has become almost unthinkable. Open source has become the process to define and evolve industry-wide standards, norms, and architectures. We strongly believe in this model and work every day to allow our customers to benefit from it.
Cilium is now available in open source and enterprise editions to meet every organization’s needs.
eBPF is a revolutionary technology with origins in the Linux kernel that can run sandboxed programs in an operating system kernel. It is used to safely and efficiently extend the capabilities of the kernel without requiring to change kernel source code or load kernel modules.
Cilium is an open source software for providing, securing and observing network connectivity between container workloads - cloud native, and fueled by the revolutionary Kernel technology eBPF.
