The Community you will join:
The Cilium team is a distributed group of subject matter experts in Kubernetes, Cloud Native technologies, networking, eBPF and Linux Kernel development.
About this role:
We are looking for an expert to focus on transparent network-level encryption, most notably IPSec but also Wireguard. You’ll be working on all aspects of in-Kubernetes cluster secure network communications and operations using Cilium, from XFRM configuration to eBPF programming, in addition to Go programming.
A typical day:
Developing high-quality Go and eBPF code for the Cilium open source projects while following open source development principles and best practices.
Linux Kernel upstream development
Active participation in the open-source community
Possibility to speak at public conferences about achievements (if desired)
Requirements
Your Expertise:
Computer Science degree, or equivalent experience.
Multiple years of experience with IPSec and Go. C and eBPF knowledge is a plus.
Strong knowledge about Linux systems design and security.
Desire to write high quality and efficient code.
A public track record of open source code commits is a plus.
Experience in public speaking at technical open source conferences is a plus.

Minimum salary of $140,000 to maximum $220,000.
These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. The actual offer depends on various factors including geographic location and review of experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant. Compensation for the candidates outside of the US will vary depending on the local market.
Location: In this role, you can work remotely from anywhere, with a preference for candidates in the US and Europe time zone.
